Love Is In The Air

February is synonymous with love.

And the celebration of the

patron Saint of love Valentine.

But should we include our dog?

The simple answer is yes.

Dogs feel many emotions including joy, fear, anger and LOVE.

In essence studies have found that our dogs brain shows the same neural activity as ours in regards to many emotional states. Yes somebody actually put dogs inside MRI scanners to confirm what every dog guardian already knew ……….………………..“OUR DOGS LOVE US”.

The Dog Project” led by Dr Gregory Bern’s confirmed that when our dogs gaze at us lovingly that’s exactly what it is and not just because we can open the treat jar.

Dogs produce the love hormone oxytocin just as we do along with the feel good chemical dopamine.

Spending time with your dog, engaging in play and positively enriching their lives will increase your bond just in the same way as it does during the courting process.

So YES we should include our dogs in our Valentines Day celebrations and reward them for the unconditional love they give us.
